Andrew didn't use the word "love" very often and
didn't seem to like it, even though when he was asked where it came in, he'd
say "at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end." At the time, I
thought he worried that using it would lead into a mushy feel-good approach to
things. He would also say that most people didn't know what love was, and he'd
say, "True love burns." He seemed to feel he was the only one who
knew what love was, and of course humiliating people, at least when he did it,
was an expression of this cosmic love.
As a former student of Andrew Cohen, I set up this site to record essays I'd written on my experiences and thoughts concerning my former spiritual teacher. If you've just come here, you may want to start with the oldest post "On my experience as a Formal student of Andrew Cohen during 'the holocaust'," which gives my recollections as a formal student of Andrew during a particularly tumultuous period, and go forward in time from there.
